    Smile Undecipherable road name

Can anyone make out what this road name is?

    http://picasaweb.google.com/janebrig...Pzr_5SfmprCIw#

It's the 1861 England Census Record for J Jones (my 2xgreat grandmother) but I can't make out the road name. I have gone through the 'Victorian London A-Z Street Index' looking for Zoo Path, Boot Path etc. I must be missing something - maybe it is an abbreviation I'm not familiar with.

    Many thanks

Looks to me like 73 York St.

I agree with Kerrywood. At first I thought it was North St. The big swirly Victorian K/k always foxes me.

York Street looks right to me as well. On Google maps there are 4 York Streets - in Paddington, Wandsworth, Lambeth and Richmond if that helps.

If you click on the enumeration district it should take you to the list of streets covered by that enumerator. You may then be able to place the street within the right area.

The image posted by Jane shows the parish as St Margaret's Westminster.

Maybe District 11, somewhere around Westminster Cathedral,
not there now as York Street but I believe there was a York Place then.

Thanks guys - now I can see the 'Y' and the 'K' - it all makes sense.

I found 'York Street, Westminster [1749]'. It doesn't specify St. Margaret's but it could be the one!
