    LE PAGE, Sussex / India

I am a researcher and writer working on a book that involves a vaudeville performer, born either in England or in India (as an English subject) about 1874-1878. Her name was Collis LePage or Ada Collis LePage.

I am aware that an "Ada Page", aged 7, was listed in the household of Richard and Fanny Lepage in the Steyning Registration District, Sussex, in the UK 1881 census. Also, there is a listing in the England 1901 census for "Ada Collis Le Page", born abt 1878 in India and living in Sussex. I do not have a copy of either of these census records and would appreciate it if anyone can supply me with copies.

In general, I am interested in any information or records relating to:

Richard Lepage / LePage / Le Page, b. abt 1817
Fanny Lepage / LePage / Le Page, b. abt 1829
Ada or Ada Collis Lepage / LePage / Le Page, b. abt 1874-1878

    Thank you.

Maybe this is a start - there is a marriage in the India Office Records as follows:

Marriage: R.C. Lepage & Fanny Deborah Colliss
    Date: 27 Dec 1843
At the old church, R.C. Lepage, Esq., to Fanny Deborah, daughter of George Colliss, Esq., Tirhoot.

    Source name:
East India Register, 1844, Bengal Presidency

If this is correct, Fanny would have been very young, but then she may have been less than truthful with her age in the 1881 census.

There was also an earlier marriage for R C Lepage:

Marriage: R.C. Lepage & Eliz. Robinson
    Date: 16 Feb 1839
Calcutta, R.C. Lepage, Esq., to Mrs. Eliz. Robinson, eldest daughter of G.S. Hutteman, Esq.
    East India Register, 1840
    Bengal Presidency

    Michael Pipe,

I don't know whether I have previously responded -- but thank you so much for this information -- very helpful. I am still groping my way into long-distance research into British genealogy. Thanks for our helpfulness.
