William George Williams census look up

I was wondering if anyone could look up the census 1871,1891,1901 for William George Williams born married Lillian Penn sheet???. One daughter was Winifred born 1900 Gosport? William was in the Navy. I have been having a lot of trouble trying to find this line on my husbands side. His father died along time ago and his mother doesnt know very much about that side of the family.

Do you have your Father in Laws birth certificate? If not and you know his date of birth that would be easy to get. It will give you his Mothers maiden name to be more positive.
Could the name of his wife be just Lily? There is a possible marriage showing on freebmd in 1896, one name is Lily Penn. I have looked on the 1901 census and there is William Geo Williams, married, age 25, born Gosport. The Battleship is called the Royal Oak and was at Malta.
There is also a Lily Williams at her brothers in 1901, couldn't see a Winifred though.

Oh sorry! Just read your post again, you did mean just Penn born "Sheet" I was just looking to see if I could find the birth places. It looks like Shack on the census ? So non the wiser.
If you think it may be her I can send a link via ancestry for you to see.

This looks like the same lady in 1881 living in Sheet, Registration District Petersfield Hampshire.

thanks Jo for the information, could you please send me the link for ancestry to have a look at please. I dont have any information on this family past Lily and William. Its my husbands line and his father died 20 years ago and his mother doesnt know anything. It makes it very hard to find. I was told that William George William died in the Hanora Hospital on the Navy base at Portsmouth around the 1930 ?? he was disarming amour and it went off in his stomach. He and another sailor were injuried and then died. I think Winifred was born after 1901 may be around 1906??. I will look into what you have found for me and see it it does lead to something. I have just remembered something they may have had a son William as well but not sure of dates and I think he was in the Navy as well.

You could really do with some certificates for more evidence and who to follow. It would be awful to go up the wrong tree.

Thanks Jo again for your help. I am trying to get copies of certificates but for me to buy them it will cost $33.00 australian dollars so I need to be very sure it is the right ones otherwise it becomes a very expensive project.

Almost certainly, this would be Haslar RN Hospital at Gosport - not part of the Dockyard.

Hi Linda and Tony,

Thanks for the name of the Hospital. I was told this by a distant Aunt from England on the telephone and I wasn't sure if I had it the right way or not. Would you happen to know were the records from the hospital would have gone or is the hospital still their? I may be able to contact them and ask if we are aloud to excess the old records. Some places after a certain time will let you have copies of old records.
