Hi, hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
I believe that my father joined the RAF sometime around 1945 after leaving the Palestine Police Force. As a child in the 60's I remember him being posted to RAF Coltishall, RAF Chivenoer and finally to RAF Hartland Point as well as service in Borneo and Malaya.
I would like to get hold of his service record but do not know his service number or very many details other than this date and place of birth and his address in 1945/6 (when I think he joined).

To complicate things further he was christened Alfred John but used the name ALAN John.
The family story goes that the RAF miss-spelled his surname as SEARLE instead of SERLE and he changed his surname by deedpoll to save changing all the paperwork.

How do I go about getting his records ? A search of TNA has shown nothing of interest.
