Hi Sonia, These are the sort of things I have been trying to look into, including the possibility of him being illegitimate, am also aware of the fact that their is a 'House of Correction' at Northleach' and in 1841 census I found a Mary Rogers aged 15yrs there, unfortunately have not found anymore links to that line of thought.
I suppose I am hoping that someone might have access to the parish records for Northleach and be willing to take a look for me.
I don't know of any Non conformist registers for Northleach, will try to find out, meanwhile I continue to scan the censuses hoping to get further clues.
