Hello, I'm Jen from Queensland. Been researching my family and my husband's family for about 5 years. All from UK originally. Finding it difficult sometimes doing the research from Australia due to inability to access the UK archives in person. Was lucky to discover one second cousin from one of my families in the UK who was also searching and worked with him to find out heaps of info. More or less finished that line now. (Are you ever finished?) Interested in all aspects of family history as I feel a tree isn't complete without all the details of employment, places lived in as well as BMD. One problem I come up against regularly is the lack of history passed down from UK forebears to Australian descendents. Must start from scratch each time. New to this site but already have had help to have a brickwall knocked down or at least a hole I can see through. Great!

Hi Girrawheen,
Welcome to Brit-Gen. Great that you have already had a brickwall partially demolished. That is what the forum is all about.

Hi Jen
Welcome to the Brit-Gen Forum. I can relate to the tyranny of distance being just south of your border. All my ancestors came from England or Ireland so it can be so difficult. This forum is a god-send and the members are very friendly and know their stuff. Have a good look around and particularly the stickies at the beginning of each section and then ask the questions - if they don't know the answer they will point you in the right direction.
