Default WHO WAS!! MY gt.gt.gt.gt Grandfather (PLAYER)

My Gt Gt Gt Grandfather was George Player born abt 1805 in Frampton, Gloucestershire and married to Ann Lovell but I dont have access to looking up records due to the exchange rate and being retired. I have looked at what I can till I am blue in the face!! and have been on all kinds of sites to try and get some clue. I would more than appreciate!! some kind soul who could possibly find out his name, where born etc. any info at all. From George onwards they all lived in the Winterbourne, Gloucestershire area for generations but I just dont know about gt gt gt gt Grandfather. I worked out that he may have been born from say 1765 to 1786 but could be way out depending on what age he was when George was born and may not havebeen born in the Gloucestershire area. I have stacks of info on Georges family and the childrens name could indicate maybe nameing one of them by Georges father if that helps searching for Gt x 4. Many thanks from Carol in South Africa

    Hi

Have you tried using Igi Pilot Search .....there are a couple of George Player's who were born around 1804 in Gloucestershire. Worth a try.

there was a George Player born 14th August 1803, christened in Newnham on 12th June 1804, parents Richard and Elizabeth. Newnham, as the crow flies, is very near Frampton (about 4 miles).

This seems to be very similar to the recent thread ( http://www.british-genealogy.com/for...ht=#post402863 ) which gave the Newnham information.

    Hello from S.A.

Sorry taken me ages to thank u for your reply. I have found a son George born to Richard and Elizabeth in Newnham which as someone else told me is close to Frampton so could be but I will have to ask someone to really look up micro films etc so that I can confirm all the info I have found. Would be great to know also if Richard and Elizabeth are my gt x 5. I would love tobe able to pay for an expert to really confirm all that I have, which is reams of info on my Player info. Gets really frustrating when the exchange rate is all wrong!! but tks for your help. I wish I was as expert as some of you on this site but then you probably all know computer terms etc. I was born in the wrong era. (1943 Hillingdon, Middx) emmigrated in 1982. Hope u are having a good summer. Here on the Eastern Cape, S.A. it is actually very cold for the first time in months!!! and it has rained at last. Regards to all in the uk

Could you clarify whether you mean Frampton Cottrell (near Winterbourne) or Frampton on Severn (near Newnham)?

    Hello from S.A.

Many thks Sonia for replying to my message. I am really not sure whether my 3 x Grandfather George born abt 1805 was born in Frampton Cotterell near Winterbourne or Frampton on Severn. My initial choice was Frampton Cotterell as most of his decendants lived in and around Winterbourne and I presumed Frampton is now Frampton Cotterell but having found a Richard and Elizabeth and a son George 1805 ish born in Newnham it may have been Frampton on Severn. I thought if I could get info on George I might see who his parents were. I have found on the Winterbourne family history site the marriage of George and Anne but only 2 witnesses given so his parent may have died by then. I have a hunch about Richard and Elizabeth who may be his parents and my Gt x 4 Grandparents but this is just guess work and I suppose its difficult when looking for info prior to say 1806 ish as need tolook up the Bishops Transcripts, I think? I am very new at this so not yet clued up!! Have you been lucky with your family searching? Tks again for any help.

    From Carol in S.A.

    Hello Nicolina

Dont know if I replied to tk you for your reply to my George Player query as got bogged down in Newnham, Forest of Dean but I have no way of looking at paid info if there is any for that year. Anyway I went back to my Winterbourne connections of George Player born Frampton 1803/5/6??? but looking back on my paper work from the Winterbourne family history site I did come across a George Wigmore Player (winterbourne) born 1805 ish so now I dont know if my George could be George Wigmore Player but I dont think so because my George Player that Angie White (a relative researched has our George married to Ann Lovell and George wigmore Player was married to Mary Angel. I think there could be a connection though to George Wigmore Player as his wifes middle name of Angel is also one of my direct males called Benjamin Angel Player. pse help if you can as trying to find out who George Player (frampton) who is his parents (my 4 x Gt Grandfather) in a rush so may have not have made sense. My original thread was closed? does that mean no one can access it although its still on the Gloucestershire forum? Havnt got to grips with this site yet!!! Regards from Carol (S.A.)

Please could anyone look up a Marriage certificate. I am looking for any clues that could tell me who my Gt.Gt.Gt.Gt Grandfather was and beyond if possible. Please look up the marriage of George Player and Ann Lovell married 26 Dec 1824 Winterbourne, Gloucestershire Indexing Project Batch number M17294-1 Source Film No. 1596177 Collection England Marriages 1538-1973. Would it give names of witnesses and also would it give Georges birth date and where born please. Any info from it I would be grateful. Many tks from South Africa.
