I was born in my grandparent's house at 91 Clipstone Street, Highfields, Leicester in 1947. My grandfather George Endall was born in Leicester and they had lived in the house since the 20's. My mother is buried in Anstey Lane cemetery. In 1966 my father and I moved to Australia shortly afterwards Clipstone and Highfields were demolished to make way for new housing estates. Two of my daughters have since visited home but could find no trace of Clipstone.

Hello, deskhermit, and welcome to this forum.
Lots of other Aussies are members, Canadian and US folks, too. There is a strong sense here of wishing to HELP one another, and some members have access to, or knowledge about, some very specialized sources.
So look over the various subforums, and ask for help. Post names, dates, and places as best you know them (as long as not living or potentially living people). You'll find others very friendly and keen to help you solve your family mysteries.
Cheers--Jane E

Welcome deskhermit to the Brit Gen forum from another from down under! Canberra must be pretty chilly this time of year so good weather for doing family history research. This is a very friendly and knowledgeable forum. Check out the stickies at the beginning of each section and have a good look around. Post where you think it should go and if the moderator thinks it will be better placed somewhere else they will move so it will get better exposure. When you post put in as much information as you can so the members can help you out.
