I am trying to find more information on James Beech, a weaver from Stoke on Trent/Newcastle under lyme. He married Hannah Worral in 1806 in Stoke and they had two definate children, Alice Love Beech born 1807 and Hannah born 1809. Hannah had a daughter in 1803 prior to her marriage but no father is mentioned on the baptism entry. James is recorded as a weaver but i have had no luck finding him anywhere

From Ancestry's Staffordshire Parish Records:
Born 18 May, bap 13 September 1807 at Newcastle under Lyme Alice Love BEECH father James, mother Hannah
Born 11 August, bap 17 September 1809 at Newcastle under Lyme James BEECH father James, mother Hannah
There are 2 James BEECH's having children in Newcastle at this time, the other one is married to a Catherine. Like valg, I cannot find the baptism of a Hannah to James & Hannah. Have you looked at the original parish register record of James & Hannah's wedding? You may get a clue to his parentage from the witnesses if you are lucky. There are 2 possibilities for his baptism that I can find on Ancestry, one 30 Jan 1787 at Newcastle under Lyme who is shown as the son of James BEECH jnr and the other bap 19 March 1780 at Wolstanton son of James & Catherine, but without any further clues it is impossible to determine if either are relevant to you.

Could this be Hannah nee WORRAL in the 1851 census of Newcastle under Lyme:
HO107/2002, folio 54, page 10
Liverpool Road
George COLLEY Head Mar 60 Potter Chester Walkerton
Hannah do Wife Mar 73 do Wife Stafford Newcastle
James BEECH Lodger Un 41 Labourer do do
According to Family Search Beta website there is a marriage on 9 February 1834 at Stoke on Trent of a George COLLEY & a Hannah BEECH.
More circumstantial evidence to support this is the 1861 census of Newcastle under Lyme:
RG9/1916, folio 94, page 10
Hassall Street
William BARRAT Head Mar 56 Hatter Staffordshire Newcastle
Alice do Wife Mar 54 do do
Hannah do Daur Un 23 Silk Winder do do
Hannah COLLEY Boarder 86 do do
According to Family Search Beta, William BARRATT married an Alice LOVE at Wolstanton in 1829 - could this be Alice Love BEECH?? If so, it would appear that James BEECH snr may have died prior to 1834 when Hannah remarried George COLLEY, so it may be worth looking for a death in Newcastle prior to 1834 which may give you an approximate birth date for him.
See what you think anyway.

George COLLEY 50 Potter
Hannah do 55
James BEECH 30 Clog Maker
All born in the county and James BEECH is shown as a separate household in the same house as George & Hannah.

weaver....?
Different angle on this one.....James Beech was recorded as a weaver.... does anyone know or suspect what that was...cotton weaver, silk weaver... cottage industry or working in a cotton or Silk mill. we are looking at about 1800-1805 time.

If there are twoJames Beeches having children at this time... may help if we can find a place of birth and age for the one married to Catherine if he survives until the census returns...
