Hi to all
I have just managed to push back another generation with the help of this new collection on familysearch.org Asia and Middle East Collection. The India collection covers the following dates
Births and Baptisms 1786 - 1947
Marriages 1792 - 1948
Deaths and Burials 1719 - 1948
I managed to find my husband's 2 x great grandfather, spouse and children who were stationed in Bengal whilst he was in the British Army.
Give it a visit - you may just be lucky like me!

Wow, i've only been on this site a couple of days and just found a marriage in 1928 of a great great aunt, a branch of the family I had no idea how to trace in India that time- thanks so much for the heads up!

Hi to all of you that have found the familysearch India site so helpful. I intend to spend more time searching on it now that I am back after a 6 month break. And p.mca I am lucky enough to be a dry blue wren as I live in Sydney. My heart aches for those affected by the devastating floods - but isn't it wonderful to see Australians giving so freely of their time and effort to help each other out.
Cheers
Blue Wren:-)

I have found the FIBIS site very helpful but they have recently changed their search area. You have to go into FIBIS database to find the search area. Keep checking back with them as they are always adding info. As a tip, you can use a wildcard of % before or after the name which gives you even more searches.
