    Smile 2nd Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry

Hi..My maternal grandfather, James Knott (1872-1952) Winteringham, Lincolnshire, served as a Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry (I have a photo of him in his uniform). Could someone please tell me where he fought and what medals he might have achieved? He died when I was only a few months old so I never really knew him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi

I can tell you that he served in the 22nd Company, 2nd Battalion IY, where he qualified for the Queens South Africa Medal for his service during the Boer War. To check his clasp entitlement you need to consult the following publication: The Roll of the Imperial Yeomanry, Scottish Horse and Lovat's Scouts. 2nd Boer War. Perhaps another Member may have a copy and will be able to supply this info.
