Default geneius new to the site

    Hello

New to the site, have been researching for the past 30+ years and still not finished my own family tree but they say
Genealogy began as a interest , became a hobby, continues as a vacation , takes over as a obsession , and in it's last stages is a incurable disease..........

Not sure where I am on the scale!

    Willing to help all

Hello Genius, nice to meet you. 'As an out-of-towner' along with many others I'm often stumped by where places are in Counties. Do you have a specific area you are attached to or familiar with.? Can be a big help for other new folk searching.

    Hello Geneius.
Like you, not sure where I am on the scale, but where ever it is, we get a lot of help from others on this forum to make sure we continue on the path!
Had an extra smile at your name too. Probably says where you are on your scale pretty well.
No doubt we'll hear more of you, it's a great forum.

    Welcome Geneius,
There are many here wanting help and others willing to help so I guess you will fit in quite nicely.
Though expect to find some weird transcriptions for your user name.

    Good Luck

Hello Mutley, Sandra, Bo peep et al and ......oh and Waitabit!

Thank you for your warm welcome to the site...no not a genius...probably someone with a sense of humour!

Where am I living in East Cheshire s of Manchester, with family based in mid Cheshire, around the villages of Crewe / Monks Coppenhall researching predominately in Cumbria / Cumberland and Cheshire and bits of Yorkshire.

My initial researches are of the pen and paper style, where you spent hours in the library or record office looking for that one scrap of informtion that could take you back a step, and is still waiting to be added to the computer 'tree' not like todays research......
