While researching my family history...I was told, [on good authority..] that the housekeeper of one of the large houses, belonging to the Aubrey family, apparently had a 'relationship' with the owner, a baronet...this produced a son...The housekeeper tried to drown the 'ligitamite' son of the Lord, so that her son could inherit the title..I have seen the portrait painted of the small son, of the baronet. Is there anyway I can find out what actually happened to the son of the housekeeper, and what his name was? Because 'in essence' He also would be a 'son' of the Baronet..even though he was illigitamit. I would like if possible to find out what happened to him and the housekeeper, and what her name was and the name of her son, and what became of them both I believe this all happened some time in the 18th century at Llantrithydd House, Nr Cowbridge/Cardiff..Pat....

Hi Pat
Thanks for your reply on the "introduce yourself thread" You can ramble all you like - just carry on, there are plenty of folk around here to listen.
Re your little story about The Aubrey family - If you put "Llantrithydd House" into Google books it comes up with a couple of references - The Swan of Usk has mention of the Aubrey's. Have you seen this?
Thanks for enquiring about my research - it is going ok but there is always something to do isn't there? Don't worry about the icons - they are good fun aren't they. You're doing fine - keep posting your queries and we will try to keep lobbing them back.

The Aubrey family history seems to be quite well documented.
It would be useful to know which of the sons was the 'legitimate one' you think the housekeeper tried to drown. Maybe that would help us with a closer time frame and the ability to insert names to your question.

Hi Pat
I have changed the title of your thread, as you had several threads entitled "Pat of Cowbridge", and until the forums in which they are posted is restored to the New Posts page it is difficult to tell which is which.Sue Mackay
