    Question Tasmania Federation Index

Does anyone have access to the Tasmania Index?

Wading through he piles of paper on my desk I have found a note relating to the death of a William Tobias TUSON in 1922 - source Tasmania Federation Index. I haven't any recollection of who sent the note unfortunately.

I would like to find William's age at date of death - he may be the same person born in 1876 in London who vanishes from the UK censuses after 1891.

    Thanks David

Did you note in the colonial tasmanian family database there is a Isabell Louise Tuson who married in 1891 in Victoria and then had children in Launceston 1892 - 1899. This is an unusual name, could it be a sister?. If so a good cross check particularly if he died in Launceston. There are also three tuson wills in the archives as well (2 on-line but too tired to read). There is also a William Tuson who was a convict in 1837 Grandfather?

Thanks guys - I'll check out everything that has been suggested later this afternoon

The William in 1837 was transported from Lancahire; the William I have born in the 1870s was from London - and Tobias was a name that occurs regularly through the London Tuson family.

    I've now checked things.

Looks like Procat and nannas responses relate to the same person. The age on the burial record gives a birth year of 1880 - given my London born William was given on freeBMD as Sep 1876 they could be the same person - obviously further research necessary to confirm this posibility. It was a bit disappointing to see all the empty fields on the Federation Record which could have given more clues - but that's the joys (?) of family history.

kermie62's response (Isabell Louis Tuson) relates to a daughter of a George Tuson from Rockhampton. He married Mary Burgess Tregurtha from Launceston. I have discovered many references in Australian Newspapers of George and his family travelling between Queensland and Tasmania. Perhaps Isabell met her future husband on one of these trips and she eventually settled in Tasmania. Unfortunately none of George's children were named William so he doesn't fit into this family.

At least I got William's age out of this posting - so thanks guys, much appreciated.

    Hi David,
Tomorrow when I am not tired and old I will check and send all the TUSON stuff I have...
I know I have sent you some bits when I see your posts but I know I have seen much more that I don't send as the name/dates don't match...BUT if I send it all then you can make heads or tails of it and see what you need.
Worst thing about it is there are so many little bits that seem useless (to me) that might be a link in something for you...
I'll be honest,,,,I'm just lazy!!!! LOL

    Hi Nannas

I have to disagree - you're NOT lazy. The bits you send me are always appreciated. And I'm actually researching a few different TUSON lines as I believe that there are links in the dark and distant past for all these families -- so very bit gets reviewed, checked and into my database.
My good friend Mike Tuson (whom I met through B-G a few years ago) shares my belief and is beavering away in the UK .
