I am interested in some entries under Brighton in the BVR Cds. for instance a marriage of William Balday to Elizabeth Holland 1825 in Brighton. No FHl Film no and no church shown. Can anyone help identify where these entries would have come from ? As I understood it all the BVR entries are extractions, which make it strange that there is no church shown.

The source details say "see FHL Catalog (sic)". Not very helpful I agree but have you looked there?
Bear in mind that a marriage in 1825 would have to have been in a C of E church and I think there would only have been the one parish in Brighton in 1825.

Bvr
Yes checked the libary cat- but its a bit like being told to look in a library for "a book" but which book. There is nothing under Brighton which indicates that it might be the source for these entries. It is not St. Nichs the main parish church as this has been fully extracted.

Sorry, I'm at a loss to know what to suggest. I suppose you could try contacting them but I'm told that one never gets anywhere with that approach.

Ed, does this help you out? From the Sussex marriage Index,
Brighton, East Sussex, Date: 10 Jul 1825:
William BALDAY, bach
Elizabeth HOLLANDS, sp botp (B)

Jane
Brighton, East Sussex, Date: 10 Jul 1825:
Ed specifically mentioned the BVRI but I note that the marriage is also on the IGI, Batch No. M135331 - without any film number!
I would have assumed that this would have been St Nicholas but Ed seems to have evidence that it isn't. What do you think?

HI Ed
You could try the Brighton History Centre. They would eb able to tell you what other churches were around at that tiem.

Hi Peter,
I was surprised that it didn't mention the church, it usually does. I would encourage Ed to go with Ruth's suggestion & try the Brighton History Centre,

Thank you for that Jane- obviously this is the source of the entry on BVR. Pity it does not mention the church. Will have to have another go at the Parish Register films. Thanks again.
