Default Alec and Sylvia Allen to Australia abt 1949

    Hi -
Can anyone help with a record of Alec and Sylvia Allen and their two daughters, names unknown, emigrating to Australia in the late 1940s?
Both Alec and Sylvia are now deceased.
They are believe to have married in Mitcham, South London, during WW2 although no record can be found.
    Any ideas really appreciated.

Do you know when the daughters were born to be able to estimate marriage date?

Were their names Alec and Sylvia or did they have other Christian names? Any other clues?

Any idea which state they went to?
    Is Alec short for Alexander?.
Do you know Alec and Sylvias' parents names?

    Hiya,
Was Alec Australian,,,and over there for the war?? This is from Australian National Archives
    Title
ALLEN ALEC : Service Number - 167202 : Date of birth - 27 Nov 1923 : Place of birth - LAMBTON NSW : Place of enlistment - WOOLLOOMOOLOO : Next of Kin - ALLEN FRANK
IF he was Australian and was serving in the war,,,,the information should be on his war papers (as they would have probably returned by war ship)

    Nannas
PS,,,forgot to add,,,,,that would explain why no marriage can be found in England...The marriage would be recorded on his war papers and classed as an Australian marriage.

    Lightbulb Always check name variations

I've now discovered that "Alec" was in fact Alexander Robert Allen born 1917 in Hendon and died 1979 in Melbourne. His wife's name was Gladys Lilian Mills and they married in 1942 in Mitcham. Gladys died in 1977 in Sydney.
Their two children were born in 1942 and 1945 and the family emigrated to Australia in 1952.
Many thanks to all who helped.
Just shows how important it can be to search variations on names.
