Help please
I’ve heard so much about Firefox and am thinking of installing it but have a few of questions. At the moment I’m using IE7
1. will it make things run any faster when I go online?
2. is it easy to install?
3. are there any security measures I should check uncheck when I install
4. if I don’t like it, is it easy to go back to IE.?
5. what are the downsides, if any?
6. and finally if I do chose to install, which version is the best, latest or mite there be bugs in it and go for the previous version?
Any answers or ideas gratefully received.

I've been using Firefox for a few years because it has a reputation for being less prone to hacker attack than IE. My version appears to be the latest (3.6.2), but as Neil says, it updates itself unless you set it to ask first. I've occasionally found sites that are designed pretty exclusively for IE and in the past these sometimes caused Firefox to crash. Ancestry was one such despite the fact that it gave instructions how to get past this problem. However, when Firefox does this it effectively creates a save point so when you re-start it you find that all the sites you were looking at are still there. This seems to be less of a problem these days and last time I used Ancestry (several months ago) it was loading OK.
I have no regrets at all using Firefox as my default browser but I keep IE for the very odd occasions that a site I visit seems to mis-function with Firefox. On those occasions I suspect that the fault is with the poorly designed web site rather than Firefox.
Once you get used to it I'm sure that you'll enjoy using Firefox.Tony

Well it's installed.
Must say BG loads as fast as it used to before it went over to the new server, that'll do for me thank you.
Right how do I set my homepage.

Preferences wasn't available in the Edit menu
Ah that worked.
Thank you both.
It isn't only faster loading BG (and with firefox it actually remembers my password, something I couldn't get IE to do), it's also faster getting to my emails. Should have downloaded it earlier.
