Hello Wirral,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, with all the James in the family it does get it bit confusing.
*James Moore 1870
DOB: 30/5/1870
MAR: 11/1/1891 --Elizabeth Patterson
DOD: 19/10/1955
PARENTS: James Moore / Catherine McGinn
married 3/2/1859
*James Moore @1836 – father of James 1870
DOB: estimate based on 1861 census where James gives
age as 25 and born in Liverpool.
1851 census: see below – living with parents James and Grace
1861 census: living with Catherine, son John
1871 census: Catherine, head, married and James is 8 months
1881 census: James living with Catherine;Grace Moore living next door
grandson James and granddaughter Grace.
From this it was deduced that the mother of James 1836 was Grace.
The census record for 1851 has James Moor 1805 married to Grace with son James age 14, John age 1. With the age gap between the children, it has been assumed the children have different mothers.
I have the certs for James 1870 and the marriage cert between James and Catherine.
I am looking for the bio information for James circa 1836 and James circa 1805 so
I can order birth/marriage certs.
James circa 1836 and James circa 1805 were both seamen.
Hopefully, this clears the confusion. My head spins with all the James!
Any advice discerning the birth of these two James is greatly appreciated - just looking for the information is appreciated!
Kind regards,
kptz
