can anyone advise me if its worth subscribing to FindmyPast.I am looking for births/marriages in India.Do you think they may have records that FIBIS and BL India Office may not hold.

If you have a look at their site, you'll find the extent of records held. For India, fot the most part this amounts to the army indexes of births, and marriages, and deaths. Also the Indian Army and Civil Servants List 1873.

BMDregisters (free to search, pay to view) has overseas records held by TNA in RG32-36.

Are you looking for army births/marriages? - or those relating to people who otherwise worked out there?

    Geoffers thanks for your reply
I'm not sure at this stage if they were army people or if they just worked our there but I will try Army list 1873 first. You mention TNA RG32-36 what does this relate to? is it a referrence on FindMyPast site?

As mentioned they are available online via BMDregisters (just put that into a search engine and it'll come up). BMDregisters has pop up links to explain the full coevage.

RG is a class of documents held by The National Archives, some have been scanneed are available online.

RG32 refers to overseas births, and marriages and deaths, events on ships and in Commonwealth countires 1831-1969
RG33 covers overseas births, and marriages and deaths; and in overseas embassies 1627-1960
    RG34 covers overseas events 1861-1921
RG35 coves foreign death returns 1791-1921
RG36 covers foreign events in Africa, Asia 1895-1965

Events recorded in BT158-160 are also available (Births, marriages and deaths at sea)

The basic search that you can carry out on BMD registers (without registering or paying money) will search all the records on the site, including RG32

Sorry, Can't find any reference to Isaac or Lydia, although there are quite a number of Baileys. Try indiafamily.bl.uk/UI/Home.aspx and you could email the India Office Records and ask about your family, giving as much detail, names, places and dates, as you can. I found them to be really helpful.
