Default Check Jersey index for 1846 marriage?

I am hoping someone could check a marriage for me from the Jersey index when they have some time available? I want to purchase the certifcate, but wish to confirm the details that I have been given first, by a cousin and the IGI. A St Heliers marriage has been confirmed on both parties death certificates and children's birth certifcates in Australia, where they arrived in 1849.

8 March 1846 William MUTTON and Elizabeth LOCK at St Heliers

At this stage I do not know if they lived in Jersey, or just went there to be married. William born Cornwall, Eng and Elizabeth in Somerset, Eng.

    Thankyou

    Hi Christine

    Good news!

William married 10th Jan 1847, which is weird as my birthday is 10th Jan 1947!

    Willam Henry Mutton
    Aged 21
    Bachelor
    Shoeingsmith
    Born Stock Climisin(??)
    Father Robert Mutton a butcher

    Elizabeth Lock
    Aged 22
    Widow
    Dressmaker
    Born Bath, Somerset
    Father Samuel Lock, a taylor.

The marriage was witnessed by Nicholoas Watson and Selina Lock

There is a Stoke Climsland in Cornwall and the 1861 census shows a Robert Mutton in St Veep, a butcher. Something to explore further??

There were quite a few Mutton's in Jersey around 1851, but in the space of 3 years they had been wiped out by cholera.

NB the marriage was ni St. Saviour NOT St. Helier.

    Hope that helps.

    Default thank you

    Hello Stewart,
many many thanks. I would have been way off using the info I had been given to get the certificate. On having another look at my information, St Helier is only recorded on her death certificate by her second, oops third, husband. On the other certifcates I have it just states Jersey. Obviously I am not the only researcher of this line not to have sighted the marriage certificate.
You certainly have the right marriage, as her father has been given as Samuel Lock, tailor on her marriage and death certs. And William was born in Stoke Climsland. His father Robert emigrated before 1861, but I shall check that entry out, as no one has mentioned him being a butcher before. He ended up in copper mines in South Australia. I wasn't expecting all this information - just a basic index entry and a registration number! I am quite estactic
    thanks again
