There is a Robert Faulkes of Nottinghamshire mentioned here
may not be your chap but you didn't say where he was from. I guess this one may have been in a Norfolk outfit.

I think (from one of your other posts) that you are looking for Robert Faulkes, born c1873 in Burgh, Norfolk?

I checked his WW1 Service records on Ancestry.com. The last recorded address, as of Dec 1920, was 10 Cooper Street, Bideford, Devon. This was from some correspondence regarding entitlement to a medal. His military history sheet was updated to reflect the new address, but his next of kin, brother William, was not updated. This seems to indicate that he was unmarried as of December 1920.

I can find no "concrete" record of him after that date.

Have you found when his parents died? - If so, did they leave a will mentioning him?

Adele has found a record of him in 1920 - you might try a directory (Post Office or Kellys) to see if he turns up in Bideford.

Being discharged in 1916 suggests that he was permanently injured, you might look to see if there is a pension file.

    Mel,

There are 26 images re your Robert FAULKES on Ancestry, including letters written in his own hand, as Adele has mentioned above. He was discharged in 1916 because he was physically unfit for duty. It might be worth your while getting a free 14 day trial with above site so you can then download the information. I can't find a subsequent marriage for him on the GRO Index via Ancestry

    Hi Mellybean,

When you sign in to Ancestry click on 'Home' top right, over to the left you'll see Record Collections and below 'more collections' where you'll find 'Military Records' click on this and fill in the search box inputting Robert Faulkes, you'll be presented with a list - your chap is second on list, click on his Service Records and to the right click on 'view original image' from that page you can scroll through all pages referring to Robert Faulkes, to do this look to the top right where you'll see 'image' with a box containing numbers next to it, ie 2100, to scroll simply click on the last zero and change to 1 this will take you to the next page, then click 2 and so on.

I hope this is clearly explained. Best of luck. By the way - the letter is on page 2102
