I don't know if this is of any use to you, but in Ilfracombe Parish Church (Holy Trinity) there are is a wall plaque to some Parminters -

    Deo Favente
In memory of Mr William Parminter of Watermouth and Mary his wife. They were each of them eminent for piety, sobriety, justice and clarity. He died in ye year of Our Lord 1677 and of his age ye 6(5?). She died in ye year of Our Lord 1725 and of her age ye 84th.
Mr Henry Parminter of Whitefield in the Parish of Marwood, their son, was buried here 6th November, in ye year of Our Lord 1732 and of his age 68.

There is also a wall plaque in Marwood Church (St Michael) - it is very difficult to read but goes a bit like this,

In memory of William Parminter Esq., Inquisitor General for the Honorary South Sea Company on Terra Firma. Strickley moral in his integrity, unbiased in business ........ and inde.....ble in his life. Actions plain and ex......... ......... lover of his country and tender brother .......... and firm friend. He died in Panama Aug ........ aged 56. Near this place is interred the body of Mrs Mary Parminter his mother, who died 18th June 1739 aged 68? years.

This monument was erected at the expense of Henry Parminter only surviving son and brother.

This monument having lost its hold on the wall where it had been fixed, fell on the floor and was much mutilated. In gravest recollection of a respectable ancestry imposed the necessity of its re-erection on a surviving descendant who made the following additions.
ALSO Mary, sister of the above Henry Parminter and wife of George Ley gent (of Prixford) originally of Combe Martin who died July 6th 1726 aged 31.
ALSO of George Ley gent, son of the abve George and Mary Ley who died April 25th 1786 aged 70
ALSO of George Ley gent son of the last mentioned George Ley and father of George Ley of Ley in this parish at whose expense this monument was re-erected in the year 1821, soon after its fall.

    Best wishes
    Ann

Thomas Parminter (1739-1800) from Ilfracombe and Hester Curnow (1732-1813) were my 5th Great Grandparents. They were married 31 Jan 1767 in Phillack. I believe his father was George Parminter married to Susannah Smith. Does any one have info on George and Susannah please?

As it is likely your Susannah was baptised at Ifracombe, the OPC for the parish offers free look-ups. Go to http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Ilfracombe/index.html and scroll down to genealogy for details. Just browsing the IGI - there are 3 candidates based on her age (73) in the 1851 census: Susan FLEMING 10 Dec 1778; Susanna BERRIMAN 28 Dec 1777; Susanna REDMORE 20 Apr 1778.
The Devon FHS can supply marriage indices by surname 1754-1837 - ask for P*M*NT* to allow for spelling variants. Go to http://www.
    devonfhs.org.uk/indexes.htm for details.

    Hi,
I just joined this forum yesterday and catching up on the various threads. I am interested in particular in the Parminter family of Tockington / Ilfracombe and Barnstaple but also any other Parminters and also investigating the Vye - Parminter links. I have quite a lot of information already in the form of genealogy notes from my own ancestors and would be delighted to share and exchange information with anybody else researching the Parminters or families they married into.
