could this be my "MARY SMITH"?
I can find no record of a YOUILL SMITH marriage presumably between 1841 and 1851 probably in Manchester area but Andrew Youill does seem to travel a lot judging from where his children were born.

any suggestions or advice on how to proceed from here
    thanks

hi back again to this brickwall

I have found possible father for Mary Smith but am unsure where to proceed from here as have had no success getting any info on births in Holland.
Robert Smith born 1797 in Holland. British subject
marriage Flora Farquharson 13 September 1829 Glasgow
appear in 1851 and 1861 censuses but no children living with them, Mary of course, would be married by then. manchester and Liverpool being cities where other members of Youill family had been living.
Robert is stated as captain , presumably of ship as later is a marine store dealer. is there anywhere I can search for more info on this?
I would be grateful for any suggestions or help
    thanks

HYave you searched the site familysearch.org, selecting 'continental Europe' from the country listing on the opening page, then scrolling down the collections to Netherlands, there seem to be some comprehemsive records on line 1600 - 1942!!
