me please !!!!! someone.
please have a look a my site "http://
people.smartchat.net.au/~meerten/default.htm"]http://people.smartchat.net.au/~meerten/default.htm
when you click on links, the address doesn't change in the address bar, so I cannot put direct links ie in here to a specific photo. I have to put in my address, and explain how to get to the page etc.
What have I done wrong, how can I fix this ????![]()
Also, I have a problem with some photos, they are extremely large in looking size, but only a small file ie 114kb or 130kb etc maybe less.
I used word 2000 and internet explorer (latest version)

The reason the address doesnt change up top is because you have frames. If you hover over a link, you'll notice the url that the link will go to, shows up at the bottom of the browser. Your frames work very well. I had no trouble getting around.

How did you do that? Do you have any help with the photos - esp the colour RAF photo inthe photo page and the dorset map on the main page?

Your directory of photos is visible for all to see, I simply viewed the directory and chose the relevant image.

The colour RAF photo's url may spill over to two lines

A couple of suggestions
Hi meerton
Your images do appear very large. One way to change this is to specify the size of the image in pixels, and then resample the image. I use FrontPage, which does the hard work for me, so I can't give you exact instructions, but you may have an image processing program that will do the job. Failing that, find a web page that looks similar to what you want, and look at the HTML to see how it was done.
Like a lot of people, I still use a screen resolution of 800x600. When I look at most of your pages, a large chuck of them is off the right hand edge of my screen. Nothing turns me off surfing a site faster than having to keep scrolling sideways, only to find there is nothing worth seeing. I suggest you reduce the width of your pages so that scrolling isn't necessary.

As you say... the photo of the stone is huge. Its physical size is 1944 x 2592. Very huge.
To bring this down to a magageable size:
I opened it up in Paintshop Pro.
Image... resize... 500 (maintaining aspect ratio)
(That's 500 wide - the height takes care of itself)
File... save as ... "stone1.jpg"
Note an important lesson here:
1. save photos for web pages as .jpg files (they are smaller in DATA size
2. don't use file names with spaces for web pages (and it is best to keep everything to lower case letters - you will appreciate the need for this later!)
And the end result is this. A file of only 35Kb, which is going to display lightning fast on any computer and any internet connection...

Cheers
