Default Edward Williams - Shoreditch - Birth 1801???

Hi guys - hit a brick wall for Edward Williams believed to be born March 1801 - christened July 1801 Shoreditch. Not certain if St Leonards or not???
Parents William Williams/ Mary Mead or Mary Chapman? This is so frustrating - can't move on until I am sure.
    Please help me if possible.
    Regards from down under Oz

I can't find a marriage between Wm WILLIAMS and Mary MEAD, but there is this on IGI again, an extracted entry:

William WILLIAMS m Mary CHAPMAN 04 April 1803 St Leonards, Shoreditch. [ Batch M040801]

The last banns were called for William Williams and Mary Chapman on 1st Nov 1795 at Christ Church Spitalfields. William a bachelor and Mary a spinster.

It may be another couple altogether, but the marriage didn't take place until 4th April 1803. William was a bachelor, but Mary was a widow, both of this parish. Witnesses: William Smith and Elizabeth Smith. All four made their marks.

Ancestry couldn't find a marriage with Mary Mead.
Sadly, our dear friend Dorothy (alias Thomasin) passed away on Sunday, 17th. February, 2013.

The St Leonards's marriage entries are browsable on Ancestry, but as each year has a seperate book, it could take hours.
I notice on the IGI, there are several children baptised (and died) in St Leonards, who could be siblings. There are also two later marriages for William Williams to a Mary. It could be the same chap, but it might not be.

OK, now I can see the confusion! The following are children all baptised to William WILLIAMS and Mary at St Leonards Shoreditch ( including Edward). Note that in 1802, three babies are born within four months of each other, so there are at least THREE sets of parents with the same names, all having children in this busy parish at the same time!

    William b 23 Oct 1800, bap 14 Mar 1801
    Edward b 19 Mar 1801, bap 05 Jul 1801
    Thomas Edward b 14 Aug 1802, 12 Sep 1802 (d 10 Jul 1803)
    Margaret Mead b 20 Oct 1802, bap 16 Nov 1802
    George b 26 Nov 1802, bap 30 Jan 1803
    Sarah b 22 Dec 1803, bap 15 Jan 1804 (d 08 Jan 1809)
    James b 08 Aug 1806, bap 07 Sep 1806 (d 08 Jan 1807)

You really need to view the originals of these to see if there's any other info to distinguish them (i.e occupation and address)

I'm wondering if it might be helpful if Kaz told us the earliest firm evidence that she has. What exactly is the evidence that the father's name was William?

Thank you all for your assistance, the earliest evidence I have (and that is hard to read) is from Edwards convict records which show his birthplace as Shoreditch - it appears that the only "parent" details and occupation listed was "Wm" and that Edward was a shoemaker by trade. He was convicted at the age of 18 in Sept 1820 - Old Bailey and transported to Tasmania - Aust. I could find no other Edward birth or christening around the time that fits? I could also be very wrong in the reasoning that it is William that is his father? Can anyone else find a birth that matches around that time frame - working on the age given in prison and convict papers????
    Regards Kaz
