Please help ,I have been searching for Bartholomew Coney for a year after finding him on one of my marriage certificates as the father of my Thomas Coney.
I have at long last found banns for the marriage of bartholomew to Mary Reagon in 1832 he was a widower...I then found a marriage for Bartholomew 1869 but have discovered this was his son and Bartholomew was deceased,,,
Coney family were in Bethnal Green area...I have found no death certificates or records in census for any Bartholomew...any ideas...I live in northumberland so depend on pc and caring library assistants ..any ideas TY

The usual first look revealed nothing so I shifted to Thomas to try to get a start,
Births Dec 1843
Coney Thomas St Pancras 1 282
Births Mar 1848
Coney Thomas St Luke 2 303
Births Sep 1849
CONEY Thomas St Pancras 1 272
Three possible London births, not Bethnal Green but all close
From what you know can you identify him

I've found Batholomew's wedding in 1869 on freebmd and the people who are listed are as follows:
CONEY Bartholomew Bethnal Green 1c 559
Edwards Alexander Bethnal Green 1c 559
HUBBARD Sarah Bethnal Green 1c 559
Marshall Amelia Bethnal Green 1c 559
This means that Bartholomew married a Sarah or an Amelia.
I'm guessing Sarah as their names are in capital letters.

Hi Robin,
The 1869 marriage is for the elder Bartholomew's son.
And yes, he did marry Sarah, but it is pure coincidence that both their surnames are in capitals on FreeBMD. That's down to how the entries were 'keyed in'. (The marriage is on A*'s London marriages with the surnames indexed as Covey and Habbard. Marriaige took place at St James the Great, Bethnal Green.)

To confirm, and for info,
Parish of Bermondsey (St James' church) in the county of Surrey
Page 37, entry 110.
Bartholomew Coney, widower, and Mary Reagon, spinster, both of this parish
married by banns 23 April 1832.
Bartholomew signed, Mary made her mark.
Witnesses (both signed) were John Wheeler and 'if-you-can-read-the-signature-you're-a-better-man-than-I-Gunga-Din'.
Details from Ancestry's London marriages database.
