Hi, I have some records for Preston by Wingham and there is no William c there at this time. Maybe you need to look at Eastry.

May also be worth looking at Thanet as well. My Bachell ancestors came from Wingham/Preston area but one married in Margate. I also have a branch of family (either Phillpott of Sandwell) that married into a Thanet Kennett family - and for some reason I always call the children "little Kennetts" in my research - which is why I remember the name!

Sorry Lis, have had a spell where I wasn't on the forum and missed your message.
I haven't had much time for the Dadds line for quite a while, but have decided to have another `go' as there is such a lot more info around nowadays. I will have a look at Eastry, as a lot of my Ladd, Dadds, Long etc. came from around this area. Thanks.

A bit late to comment on this reference to a cab driver named Dadds, but he belongs to my Dadds lineage if his forbears were bakers. I would love to talk to him or anyone else regarding this lineage.

Gary, hurrah! I have done oodles of research on this line of William Dadds of Wingham and can share my findings with you. I just finished working on William who married Sarah Culmer so the research is fresh as well as documented. There are 5 Dadds cousins linked in various ways who have a little research group going where we try to share our findings online. Sorting out the Dadds's is proving to be very difficult as they all had the same given names, born in the same places and at the same times. My particular group comes from Wickhambreaux but we believe that they are just branches from the same Dadd or Dadds families in the Wingham, Ickham and Deal areas.
