Whilst Googling 'Thomas Causier' one of the hits I got was for a Charlotte Causier who was apparently apointed schoolmistress of Droitwich Workhouse in 1858. One of yours? Link is below if it should be of interest.

Causier / Bennett in parish registers
Here is some info from my notes of CAUSIER info extracted from Parish Register microfilms. It would seem to fit this thread rather well.
Family History Library film # 352,025 Item 1
Worcestershire Parish Registers, Dodderhill Vol 7, Baptisms 1813-1841
page 42
18 April 1821 Sarah, daughter of Sacheverell & Ruth Causier
page 82
18 Feb 1828 Thomas, son of Sacheverell & Ruth Causier
While 'Sacheverell' is common in the Causier's, I have only seen one married to a 'Ruth.' Other of their children also appear.
Family History Library film # 352,025 Item 3
Dodderhill, Burial 1813-1849
page 102
Ruth wife of Sacheverell Causier
abode In Liberties, buried 23 Aug 1839 age 46
John Amphlett - Vicar
Family History Library film # 352,025 Item 4
Worcestershire Parish Registers, Dodderhill Vol 10, Marriages 1837-1874
page 43
11 May 1844 / married by banns / both of full age / both signed by mark / both abode In Liberties / J. Jackson Vicar
Robert Bennett / bachelor / waterman / (father blank)
Sarah Causier / spinster / servant / father Sacheverel Causier - labourer
witnesses: Sarah Harrison by mark / Wm Chatterton signed
MY COMMENTS:
As I said, these are just my notes from my extraction, so you should go and see the films/records yourself. The Sacheverell/Ruth line is very collateral for me, & I may not have been as careful as I am otherwise. I'm sorry, but I didn't extract any Bennett's.
Given that Robert Bennett was a waterman when they married in 1844, it would seem that the 1851 couple is indeed the right one. Could the family legend of a wife dying early refer to Sacheverell & Ruth?
The baptism for a Thomas, son of Sacheverell & Ruth, would seem to give you an uncle for Lucy. However, as you said, there are many Thomas Causier's in the family. The one you seek could be a grand uncle or even more of what we would call a cousin.
There are several different parish churches in the Dodderhill area, and the Causier's seem to have used them all and with no pattern I can see.
Please tell me more about the diary! Do you have it? What are the dates it covers? Which specific family was visited?
Overall, your quest seems to be a good example of needing to follow the evidence rather than looking for info that fits what you are looking for. I hope this all helps someone.

Hi Encinita,
What wonderful help ~ thank you so much.
It seems that there were two couples in the area with both Robert Bennett's working around 1841 as watermen & both were married to ladies named Sarah. The census entry which you mentioned is of the other couple who had several children who are not a part of my family. The Robert in this family died leaving Sarah to raise the children alone but we know that our Sarah died & our Robert survived and lived for many more years eventually remarrying.
I have actually now been contacted by several people all researching the same family & we have put our heads together & all seem to have the same information.
As to the diary ~ it sadly not in this country so I haven't been able to set eyes on it myself.
Thank you so much for helping me in this way, it is very kind of you & I really do appreciate your help.
Brock.
