I have just received a marriage certificate for my 2x gt grandfather and his first wife, married in Llanelly in 1841. They were from the local area, but I can't read the place names which both seem to start with P.
If anyone can decipher the "residence" information that would be very helpful. As the participants are surnamed THOMAS and DAVIES, it might really help confirm their identities. I'm hoping a link to an image will appear below

Okay, I am the first to admit that I am not too good with Welsh place-names, but could the bottom one be Penycoed?

The second one looks like Pen-y-Cae (though written without the hyphens). I wonder if the first one is meant to be Pembrey?

Placenames
Does the certificate mention a parish that might help to narrow it down?

The marriage took place in the Parish church of Llanelly
Thanks, Marion

I agree one could be Penycae (Pen-y-Cae) or Penycoed (Pen-y-Coed).
Is it possible the top one is Pencraig?
All of these names are fairly normal house names in Wales.

Cae was a popular name around Llanelli. Why not take a browse through this map?

Good luck.

Thanks to you both. I have emailed the GRO to ask if a better copy or transcription is possible. I'm pretty sure both parties were born in or near Llanelli, so these might be very local names.
