Default MacInnes travelling who knows where!

Could sks please have a look at the UK Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960 on Ancestry for me? (or any other passenger lists for that matter!) My sub doesn't cover that list.

    I am interested in

Jonathan MacInnes and his wife Frances Winifred (nee Utting b 1906)

There is an entry for Capt J MacInnes arriving in Southampton, and one for Mr J MacInnes arriving in London, also entries for France Winifred MacInnes arriving Kings Lynn and Mrs F MacInnes arriving Southampton.

I'm hoping the details might explain why they don't seem to show up in the BMDs after their marriage in 1931.

    Thanks in advance

    Sally

The manifest for the ship arriving Kings Lynn is only one page with two passengers. It is the "Patrick M" arriving 19.6.55

Frances Winifred MacInnes is shown born 9.8.1906, embarked at Casablanca, destination 50 Pencisely Crescent, Clandaff, Cardiff.

The certification of the passenger list at the top of the page tells the story. J. MacInnes is the Master.

    Here's a death registration:

    Name: Frances Winifred MacInnes
    Birth Date: 8 Aug 1906
    Death Month/Year: Jul 1996
    Age (est): 89
    Registration district: Cardiff
    Register number: D2B
    District and Subdistrict: 8901D
    Entry number: 58

    The Capt J MacInnes manifest:

Themistocles arriving 24 Apr 1925 from Australia

Capt J MacInnes has been crossed off the list. He was to have embarked at Sydney, destination Bough(?) Tiree via Oban Scotland. He is a 45 year old Master Mariner, last permanent residence Australia, country of intended future residence "British Possessions"

Thanks Adele - that certainly seems like her as she was born in Cardiff and all her family stayed in that area.

I had found the death reg, but couldn't seem to find any children of the marriage, and wondered if they could have been born abroad (if any existed!).

I'll have to see what I can find out about the career of Jonathan Macinnes to see if that gives me any clues.

    Thanks again

What is the approximate year of birth of Jonathan MacInnes?

    Cross posted Adele

That trip would have been before their marriage.

Not sure about his birth date - I haven't got the marriage cert as it's a 2nd cousin, but there is a Jonathan Angus MacInnes b Salford dist 1898, which would be the right sort of age for them to marry in 1931.

You might like to note the correct spelling which is LLANDAFF

Not sure about the family returning from Port Said - her age is a bit out and there doesn't seem enough time since the marriage (q3 1931) to produce kids of those ages

I should have realised about Llandaff Squaredancer, having grown up just on the other side of the River Severn

    Thanks again

    Sally
