Divorce between 1871 & 1882

Hi there I am hoping somebody may be able to help me with this.

Walter Porter married Bertha Agnes Spencer in the last Q 1870 Vol 7b page 199

My father tells me that Walter was one of the very first people to get a divorce in the country, and I have just managed to find out that Walter remarried in 1882 to Rebecca Wrighten in the last Q Vol 7b page 191

Can anybody help me find the divorce, although I am a member of a genealogy web site that I thought contained Divorces I cannot seem to find anything.

I am sure there is somebody better at knowing where to look than me.

Thank you so much! I had no idea it would be here. It seems like the co respondent was a Newbery, with Bertha having this name attached to the divorce. So I guess Walter divorced her for having an affair with Newbery? I will look further. If I got to see the document at Kew would it tell me anything more?

At this date the case-file may contain any or all of the following:

* the original petition, setting out the complaint and the alleged grounds for divorce (usually with names, addresses, dates etc.)
* any affidavits, statements of witnesses
* a copy of the marriage certificate from Somerset House
* notification of the court's decision, any custody orders for children, award of costs etc.
* copy of the decree nisi
* copy of the decree absolute
* solicitors' procedural file, showing dates when documents were submitted to the court etc.

My GG grandparents divorced in 1883 due to her adultery and I discovered an article in the newspaper announcing it and giving all the details e.g who got custody of the children, whom she committed the adultery with etc, so don't rule out looking at newspaper archives.
