Robert and Mary came to America with their younger children, Sarah stayed behind. they arrived in 1822 in Maryland. unfortunately a fire consumed the passenger records from around 1820-1840 in 1924, and so we have no documentation of their arrival or just how many members of the family went with Robert and whether other members came later.

*Thomas Hudgson did not show up on the dock the day he and his family were to join the rest of the family in America, so Sarah left with her children and without him. we don't know what happened to him. as far as we know he never came to America, but we can't be certain.

I was unable to trace Richard or Ann and assume they were of Scotland prior to Robert's baptism.

can anyone help me discover more about Mary Aitken, Richard Atkinson or Ann Airey and their parents and ancestors? I am also curious to know about Thomas Hodgson, do we have cousins who live in England?

Assuming Ann was about 20 when she married Richard, there are 2 possibilities on the IGI

Ann Airey Christened 1 May 1743 Kendal, Westmorland, England F. John Airey M. Sarah
Ann Airey Christened 24 March 1744 Kendal, Westmorland, England F. John Airey M. Alice

    These are extracted records

    thanks, Fiona,
there's no wills that I know of for these people, none that I've found, so how I might learn which of them might be my Ann I'm not sure.
I'll keep them in mind and try to learn something about them.
