I know this is an old thread (and please don't embarrass me by asking how I came to 'find' it ) but I can tell you the answer to the mystery of the can't-find George Simpson/Mary Ann Tebb marriage in Boston registration district in 1874.

Firstly, it is important to note that the Mary Ann Tebb who married William Simpson in Lincoln registration district in 1871 did NOT then go on to marry George Simpson in Boston registration district in 1874.

    http://mi.lincolnshiremarriages.org.uk/
Select Boston spreadsheet. The index also gives the names of the fathers of the brides and grooms.

George Simpson married married Sarah Jane Lenton 2 April 1874 at Leverton.

Mary Ann Tebb married George Hall 1 June 1874 at Leverton.

The marriage index says Mary Ann Tebb's father was Henry.
The history of this Mary Ann seems to be:

    1861 census RG9/2332 folio 95 page 4
    Leverton
Henry Tebb, 38, birthplace probably meant to be Ewerby. (Changed to Heckington in 1871 and 1891.)
    Mary Ann, wife,32, Great Hale
    Mary Ann, daughter, 6, Heckington

Wife Mary Ann dies, and is buried as Mary Ann Tebbs, aged 33, in Leverton 13 May 1861.
Henry marries Sarah Ann Johnson, a widow, in Leverton 9 Mar 1862
(Details from previously mentioned Lincs marriage index, Boston registration district)
Henry and Sarah Ann stay in Leverton until Henry dies in June quarter 1900, aged 78.

An extensive search for daughter Mary, by now aged about 16, in the 1871 census seems to draw a blank.
Unless she's the Mary Ann Tebbs aged 18, living in Leake, and allegedly born Leake. RG10/3336 folio 8 page 10

    1881 census RG11/4747 folio125 page 39
Civil parish of Sutton (Hull), Yorkshire
George Hall, 36, born Kirton Fenn (sic)
Mary A, 26, Heckington Fenn (sic)
Mary A, daur, 5, transcribed as Edney Hill, but I've realised that 'Edney' has very faint 'G' written in front of it, so it is in fact Gedney Hill.
James W, son, 9 months, Hull

    1891
    RG12/2576 folio 34 page 10
Living in Swineshead, with various children. Mary now gives her place of birth as Sutterton Fen.

    1901
I can only seem to find son Albert.

    1911
    RG14 PN19554 SN36

    (Census in care of TNA)

    Default William and George

It seems that the William Simpson that did marry Mary ended up in Beverley and changed his name to George and his occupation to barman in the course of his life. I spent considerable time going thru the records at the archive at Beverley. I checked all his kids baptisms and his death in original non conformist record books.
It also proved it was not my family! LOL
