    Default William Jones

I've posted recently on my George Lloyd and Joseph Brown brickwalls - here's another for which I'd appreciate opinions and advice.

William Jones b about 1819 gives a birthplace of Windsor or Clewer from 1851 thru 1891 when he lives in Hackney. He married Ann Dowse in 1843 in St Luke, Norwood parish of Lambeth giving Norwood as residence, grocer as occupation and William Jones deceased as father. He has not been found in 1841. His wife Ann died and William married again - marriage certificate received today. I was really excited about getting this marriage certificate as he married in Windsor, giving me the expectation of finding relatives as witnesses. BUT the witnesses (and their occupations in 1871) are: Thomas Roake (parish clerk) and Eliza Lipscombe (pew opener in parish church). Both are living in Clewer. The certificate does however tell me that his father William Jones was a Lighterman and I made a note on a past visit to Windsor of a christening for William Jones on 14 Feb 1819 s/o William & Mary of Spital, bargeman. Residence at time of marriage was Spital.
As the first marriage certificate shows the father as deceased, is it reasonable to assume that the return to Clewer and presumably the stay in Spital during banns, would be because of a family connection. If that is a reasonable assumption, why would they have two church connected people act as witnesses?

I'm afraid I can't make out what the brick wall is. You say you have the 1819 baptism, so is it his parents' details that you want?

Genes R****** lists a number of William Jones in Windsor 1841 census

Jones William 1821 Unknown Easthampstead & Windsor
Jones William 1820 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
Jones William 1819 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
Jones William 1816 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
Jones William 1816 Unknown Easthampstead & Windsor

This is only from the indexes but I guess you are looking for one living with father
Jones William 1791 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
    and mother
Jones Mary 1791 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor

I only have access to the indexes so I cannot look at the original but my guess is that you are looking for siblings

Yes, for preference, a sibling. Someone related to him and living in 1863 which would give him cause to return to the area of his birth to be married in Clewer Parish Church, or opinions on why else he would return there for his marriage when there appears to have been no contact with the area since birth.

Can anyone look up on Genes either
Jones William 1791 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
    or
Jones Mary 1791 Unknown Cookham, Easthampstead & Windsor
on the 1841 census to see who else is listed.

These are Genes indexes but I don't have the sub any longer

    Thanks

I think the Cookham William Jones b~1821 is in the household with

    William Jones b~1791
    Martha Jones b~1796
    Eliza Jones b~1826
    Harriett Jones b~1829
    Henry Jones b~1831
    James Jones b~1834

All born in county but the writing is too faint to make out occupations
