    Default Giles

    Hi
Does anyone know if the name Giles is a form of the name Charles?
I have a Giles in the family lost without trace after baptism but I have a Charles not accounted for.

No, it isn't. In old registers written in Latin you can find Egidius = Giles and Carolus = Charles.

On the other hand Giles could be misheard as Charles and people have been known to adopt other names.
