Hi, on the 1911 census my Meades family were living at Gravel Pit cottage, Dawley Wall Hayes.Parents George(59) and Elizabeth Meades(40), children Ellen,George,Ethel,Harry, Albert, Alfred,Gertrude, Florence, Constance, Dorothy, Beatrice and William, ages from 19 to 3years old. my grandfather was Albert(12), he died in 1931 when my mum was 4, she only knew about Harry. Are there any decendents out there of the other children. desperate for info, as my mum is now 82 and knows nothing about her other relatives. When she went to visit her dads grave a few years ago she saw there was Constances name on the grave as well.
Heres hoping,
regards Carole

Are you also looking for the ancestors of George Meades? Have you got his place of birth from the 1911 census?

This is what I could find from the census. Apparently George Meades was the son of William Meads and Susan (possibly Frear).
1911 census
George Meades born 1852 in Greenford, Middlesex, living in Uxbridge, Middlesex
1881 census
George Meads, greengrocer, born 1852 in Hanwell, Middlesex, living at 10 Nashville Place, Hanwell
Mother: Susan Meads, widow, born 1805 in Devon
1871 census
George Meads, born 1852 Greenford, Middlesex, ED 10, household 34, Acton, Brentford
Susanah Meads, born 1809 Broahempton (Roehampton)
Henry Meads, born 1844 in Greenford
1861 census
Middlesex, household 21
William Meads, born 1806 in Buckinghamshire
Susannah Meads, born 1807 in Devon
Henry Meads, born 1844 in Middlesex
Mary Meads, born 1848 in Middlesex
George Meads, born 1852 in Middlesex
1851 census
Berkshire household 101
William Meads born 1806
Susan Meads born 1807
Ellen Meads born 1839
Richard Meads born 1841
Henry Meads born 1843
Eliza Meads born 1845
Mary Meads born 1847
In Free BMD there is this marriage:
December 1837, William Meads and Susanna Frear, Uxbridge, Middlesex
In the IGI there's a baptism for a William Meads in Bucks, 1806:
Williams Meads, son of John Meads and Eleanor Reeves in Taplow, Bucks

I'll start again Vance
1901 Census
Source Citation: Class: RG13; Piece: 1181; Folio: 80; Page: 45. (TNA)
George Meades and Elizabeth Meades with children
Elizabeth Meades new child the others below Carole has
Ellen Meades
George Meades
Ethel Meades
Harry Meades
Albert Meades
Alfred Meades
Gertrude Meades
George's occupation is house Painter
I then found this on the 1891 Census
Source Citation: Class: RG12; Piece: 1038; Folio 16; Page 3; (TNA)
Its a bit confusing as someone has corrected the names (Have a look if you can see what you think)
John T Browne Head 86
Emma Browne 70
Not Wolf 76
George Browne - Son unmarried age 39 - Painter
I have found some births and passed info to Carole. If she get's a birth cert. it will give Elizabeth's maiden name.
Also found other info - Baptism for Albert James & Alfred John on the same day 30 Aug 1899 George & Elizabeth Louise - Painter
Just to confirm I have the right Meades

According to the IGI, John Meads could have been the son of James Medes and Ann, born in Hitcham, Bucks. I suppose this must be where Hitcham Lane meets Hitcham Road, about half a mile from Taplow.
In Hitcham:
April 1764 John Medes son of James Medes and Ann
May 1765 John Medes son of James Medes and Ann
I suppose the elder John must have died young.
April 1755: James Medes and Ann Amon married at Hitcham.
There are some wills of Mead or Meads at Taplow.
PCC wills
July 1788, Mary Mead, Widow of Taplow
Wills at Aylesbury
1806 James Meads, Labourer, of Taplow
This James Meads could be the same as the one above, married to Ann Amon, born about 1720-1730.

Hi Sandyhall and Vance, many thanks for your messages. I have all census info though thanks plus - George Meads/ES BORN 21/4/1851 Greenford, died 11/1/1933. Marrried 31/8/1891 to Elizabeth Hutton. Georges parents were William Meads b1806 Taplow Bucks d 1867 Hillingdon. Susannah Freer/frear b1808 Broadhempston Devon d 1890 Hanwell. Williams parents were John Meads m 1786 Taplow and Eleanor Reeves.
Regarding the names I mentioned, have just recieved marriage cert for Florence Mary married August 1928 to Albert Francis Wilmot at Uxbridge. Also just recieved death cert for Dorothy Hilda Meades b1904 died May 1978 unmarried. About to send off for Marr certs for Beatrice and Richard (harry) and desth certs for Richard and William Ernest.
Unfortunetely when mums dad died, her mum remarried and didnt have hardly any contact with the Meades family, and it is only since I have been compiling our family tree that any of her dads relatives have come to light.
regards Carole

If you haven't got it already, I would recommend getting a copy of the will of 1806 James Meads of Taplow from the Centre for Bucks Studies. Quite possibly he is the father of John Meads of Taplow.
