Hi,
Can anyone help identify the medals in my great, great Uncle's photo please?
I hope this link works!
Thomas Abbott was born in 1853 in Marylebone, London. He is missing during the 1881 Census... I wondered if he had joined the army.
One of the cups are engraved County Kildare Boxing Club. I know he was a very good amateur sportsman and raced Penny Farthings.
I have looked into the Army medals but cannot see anything like those in the photo.
I would be glad of any help identifying these medals. Thank you.

They are certainly not campaign medals but could easily be sporting awards given the context. . There is also the possibility could also be temperance medals, which were awarded for a period of abstaining from alcohol, something that the military encouraged.

Thanks for your thoughts Terry...
I had never heard of temperance medals before... that is something new to look up!
He must have been very proud of his achievements in boxing to have this photo taken of him and his cups.
