Hi, I am told my Great ...Grandfather, Samuel Royal, learned to become a Blacksmith while growing up in Weymouth as a young man. He emmigrated to the US around the age of 16 or so ( was born in 1841) Can anyone tell me where he might have learned his trade ?

Lettice never Married she is on all the Census with her father untill 1871 when she is with brother John Harris Royal and his wife Eliza & Children and then 1881 with Brother William Robert Royal and his wife Emily and their children. she dies in 1882

William Robert Royal married Emily Bartlett Weymouth Dec qtr 1862 vol no 5a, page no 705 and had children his occupation was a Baker.

Joseph Harris Royal married Eliza Symes - Weymouth, mar qtr 1869 vol no 5a page no 473
1861 apprentice to a Jewler then went on to be a Watchman (presume he made watches) & Jewler.
all other census with Eliza and children

So far I have John Royal from USA marring Lettica Harris 1 Jan 1826 Wyke Regis, Dorset, John is a Baker.
They have children
Lettice Royal (1827-1882) Not married
Margaret Royal (1830-) Marry to Thomas Samual Wallis (m1852)
Henry Thomas Royal (1833-)
John Royal (1835-) 1 week inprisonment + Whipped for Larceny 1849
Thomas Royal (1837-)
William Robert Royal (1839-) marry to Emily Bartlett (m1862)
Samuel Royal (1841-) Went to America (Your one)
Joseph Harris Royal (1844-) marry to Eliza Symes (m1869)
Did Henry Thomas 1833, John 1835 & Thomas 1837 go to America with Samuel
they are the only ones I cant find on the Census after 1851.

I have seen some of that other info too Sandy. I had been told some of the men emigrated to Australia and BC in Canada. Other than that...they just seem to have gone POOF !
