Does anyone have any information about what became of these twin brothers born 2nd Feb 1920 at 6 Fairview Cottages, Park Gate, Sarisbury after the death of their mother Elizabeth Annie at the Royal South Hants Hospital on the 29th of the same month? Their father, George Harold Lilley was a stoker in the Royal Navy. The mother's death was registered by her father Frank Langer (my father's cousin) of 8 Mansion Road, Freemantle, Southampton. My father, who himself came from Southampton, never mentioned any of his numerous Langer relations who lived there, in the Portsmouth/Fareham area, and in other parts of Hampshire. The Lilleys lived in the Christchurch/Lymington area, but my contact there has only a vague knowledge of George Harold's branch of the family.
Any information or suggestions would be most gratefully received.

lilley's
I can't be sure this is the right person but I have found a death for a Ernest Robert Lilley born 3.2.1920 he died in 1969 in New Forest Hampshire, a possible marriage would be to Eileen A Moore New Forest in Dec qtr 1947.
I don't know if you can get the death certificate if you do you will get the informants name then you could perhaps get in touch to see if its the right family. see as its the 3.2. I would think so its too near the right date.
No luck on Harold G.

Ernest R Lilley
Thanks.
I am sure the dates of death and marriage are the right ones, though I haven't found a birth for Eileen A Moore. Perhaps she was a WWII widow.
Find My Past WWII Naval Deaths gives the death of 'Harold G Lilley Stoker 2, 'Royal Oak' 1939 ref 6 2334' which is almost certainly Ernest's twin brother, though there is no mention of his age to confirm it. Their father had been a Leading Stoker at the time of their birth.
Although I have been in contact with a member of the family I have not been able to find out what happened to the father - George H Lilley, b Christchurch area 2nd qtr 1892.

Further to the above, I have now been in touch with a corresponant whose father-in-law was related to the Lilley family and remembers both the twins from when he was a boy. He has also provided me with a picture of George Lilley, the father, as a stoker at the beginning of WW1. George Lilley made a 2nd marriage in 1921.
Harold George Lilley, who was also more usually known as George, was one of 833 servicemen who went down with the Royal Oak on October 13th 1939. He is the George Lilley whose name appears on the New Milton War Memorial.

Eileen lilley was my grandmother and we are now trying to trace more info about my grandfather Bob lilley and his brother Harold George lilley. Eileen was from Greenock in Scotland originally and has sadly now passed away.

Editing the e-mail address 'to try to foil spammers' seems to have resulted in my not hearing any more from this contact.
The family of the Lilley twins' mother, Elizabeth Annie Langer, can be found on my Genes Reunited family tree.
