    Default George Borer

    Hi
My great-grandmother is very illusive! Elizabeth Borer was born c 1839 possibly in Horsham, possibly in France. She married my great grandfather Jesse Cooper in 1861 in Hurst Berkshire. She had a sister, Victorine born c 1842 who married Elizabeth's brother Joshua Cooper. Both sisters died young I do not know much about the family except their father is recorded as George Borer. Brickmaker (Foreman).
Elizabeth I believe is recorded on the 1871 census as Hettebazbel Cooper. I wonder if that is just a transcription error.
Who are this Borer family? Any Suggestions out there?

    Hi,
I have had no luck searching for George Borer but I have found Elizabeth in 1851

    HO107/1693/F349/p35
    Wargrave District School, Wargrave.
Elizabeth Borer 8 British subject born France
Victorine Borer 5 british subject born France
Victor Borer 3 British subject born France

Presumably they were boarders at the school. Perhaps George and their mother were back in France or perhaps they had died?

    Hope this helps,
    Emeltee

You are a star. It has taken me 30 years to find anything out about this family. I feel like I have won the lottery. Wargrave School is ? workhouse or was later on. I dont think the parents had died but I have something to work on. Thanks a million

I think the Wargrave District School was the
Reading & Wokingham Workhouse at Wargrave.
It pops up on google and there is a book about it.

It is possible young Victor died,
Victor Borer registered in June 1855 in Wokingham 2c/250

I don't know if this 1841 entry could be of interest, they would need to be tracked through the census.

    Name Age
Robert Borer 63, 1778, a bricklayer, not born in county
    Maria Borer 51, 1790
    Henry Borer 23, 1818, a bricklayer
    Mary Borer 21, 1820
    George Borer 19, 1822
    Joseph Borer 17, 1824
    Emily Borer 14, 1827
    Hannah Borer 11, 1830

    All born in County
HO107; Piece 753; Book: 23; Civil Parish: Burnham Sutton Cum Burnham Ulph; County: Norfolk; Enumeration District: 9; Folio: 7; Page: 18

There is a George aged 11 on the line above Elizabeth, sadly no place of birth, but his surname looks like BORER.
