    Default Address Query

Am I going mad, or is this a very long street in the 1871 English Census

    Class: RG10; Piece: 4903; Folio: 71; Page: 25
    House schedule number: 118
I read that as 44 Nicholson Street

Yet his son, who has moved away from the family to his own place in 1871 appears on same street name, but with different Folio details

    Class: RG10; Piece: 4903; Folio: 74; Page: 31
    Household schedule number: 139
I read that as 8 Nicholson Street

Now either the street names are wrong that i believe they are, have a similar name (but different streets) or I am sadly going mad, as I fear

If you follow the pages through, they are all consecutive Nicholson street numbers, I suspect that Alfred is in 2 Nicholson St not 8.
Folio 74 is page 31 & 32, Folio 73 is page 29 and 30, Folio 72 page 28 and 27, Folio 71 is page 25 & 26, Folio 70 is page 24. Folios are a sheet within the census book, ie two pages.

In large towns and cities it's not at all unusual to have opposite sides of the street with completely different piece numbers, and they could be in different enumeration districts.
