hello i am looking for a marrige between moses holland and eliza clayton i have looked but nothing i dont know if i am doing some thing wrong but no info comes up moses holland was born in ravenstone on the 28/2/1855 his mums name is selina clayton and his dads name is fredrick holland. eliza clayton was born 1859 in matlock derbyshire her mums name was elizabeth/ isablella clayton and herdads name was william booth. any info on a marrige cert would be great. thank you![]()

if they were married in 1881, when Eliza was only 22, that leaves a very narrow window for a possible marriage.

I've just had a look at the GRO Indices and there is no marriage for Moses HOLLAND between Mar 1875 and Mar 1881

if they wasnt married but living together in 1881 on census.would the child that is with them still take the fathers last name.i cant understand why there is no marriage because on the 1881 census it says married

one thing that jumped out from your original posting is that you say Moses HOLLAND's mother had been a CLAYTON and that Eliza was also a CLAYTON, could they have been cousins?
On the 1891 Census RG12/2719/147 Page 10 they are listed as Gypsies. Unfortunately my knowledge of Gypsies is very scant but I have a feeling that they didn't normally go through "normal" marriage ceremonies.

there was a lot of clayton gypsies so they could have been cousins i dont know
