Ancesspit must have made a boo boo as there were 2 Henry Stokes Brown listed. I knew it seemed odd, but my bet was the first one in Spilsby.

Not them actually. It was a FreeBMD transcription error. The Shoreditch entry should have read Henry Samuel Brown. I've submitted an error report to FreeBMD.

    Hi Yellabelly

Henry Stokes Brown was also my G Grandfather, his son John William (b 10/9/1904 d 26/8/1988) m Gladys Gulson and they had my mother Irene (June)
HSB was a shepherd early in his marriage, buthe also worked as a night watchman at Butlins, according to mum he was gassed and had problems afterwards with his memory. Butlins was known as Royal Arthur during the war which was I have been told controlled by the admiralty. Does this help?

I'm sure you both have a lot of information to share but please do bear in mind that details of living persons must not be posted on the open forum. However this does not apply to private messages where you are free to share as much information as you wish.
