    Default 1871 look up please

Would someone kindly check for a THOMAS or JAMES MELVIN b1812/13 , in 1871 please. My James was born Norwich Norfolk, his wife was Elizabeth born 1810 Norwich.
Just to help with my previous request for 1881, to find out if Thomas in 1881 should actually be James.

    many thanks in hope Brenda

Hi Jo Thanks a lot for this, he was there the same in 1851 & 1881
During this period my James was having children in Pancras, this could still be him. But where are the children & his wife.
I wonder if you would kindley check.
So many times they have been under the wrong spelling.
In the census which I do have 1861 1891 and from certs, he is a Plasterer.
From one birth cert that I have Thomas is a glass blower.
Most of my Melvin relatives were either Glass blowers or Plasterers.

Anyway James family consisted of by 1871 AND WERE STILL UNMARRIED
    JAMES b1812 Norwich
    ELIZABETH b 1810 Norwich wife
    MARGARET b1851 Stepney daughter
SUSAN b1853 Taylors pl, Limehouse daughter

    many thanks Brenda

Hi Jo, yes I am now convinced its not him in Norwich, hes there in 1851 and 1881.
I have mine in 1861 & 1891, both in London area.
This is the 1861 census by 1871 all of the children except Susan my GGG grandmother and Margaret were married by then.
This is so complicated, I know a Thomas a glass blower did exsist, I have a birth cert for his son.
I have a marriage cert for James to Eliza Folley, I have Eliza Folley in 1871 census and her son Thomas born the same date as the Thomas here in 1881, but her Thomas was born deptford. They have been very lazy abt this entry no birth places for the adults.
If it is indeed a Thomas then we have both a James and Eliza and a Thomas and Eliza with a son Thomas born the same year.
But NEVER do I have them on the same census.
In fact there are 3 Thomas E Melvin,s born the same year.

    thanks a lot Brenda

    Brilliant, you are absolutely brilliant.
I have had this problem for well over a year, I can not thank you enough
You also have a new daughter in law here, a new Aunt, she was dead before 1881, so I had James her husband a widower with daughter Emily, but had not found a marriage.
So did Thomas exist at the same time b1810 ?? possibly glass blower

Really, thanks so much for being so persistant
    many regards Brenda
