Dear All,
This whole emigration bit is completely new to me. Haven't had anyone up until now. So, I have a family on the passenger list from Uk To Australia departing in April 1951 on a ship bound for Sydney. In the end column against their names it says New Zealand. It names 3 family members who are over 12 years old but shows 2 infants, one aged 9 and the other aged 2. No names for these two and I have no idea who they are.
I need help with a couple of points really:
how would they have got from Sydney to NZ - would they have stayed on the same ship?
how can I find them arriving in NZ and where on earth they went to?
Oh my - definitely uncharted waters for me.
thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Sue,
Do a search on google for NZ Bound.
The site has links to passenger lists so you may get lucky.
The may have stayed on the same ship however there were many voyages by local ships between Sydney and New Zealand so they could well have changed vessels.

Hi Procat, no luck. They went from London to Sydney on 26th April 1851 on the P&O ship Strathaird but I cannot find them landing or going on to NZ. Perhaps I need to start in NZ to see if any of them died or got married then I could at least find f out where they went in NZ.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
