    Default would parish records help?

I am in a mess still, I have a birth cert...
25/09/1884, Henry Wells. Boy. fathers name blank. Mother, Susannah wright.Wells (crossed out) formerly Pawson..informant S Wright, mother.

    The wedding cert...
24/05/1904. Henry Wells Wright, age 19, batchelor, traction engine driver. from Wales (Yorks) Father..Frederick Wells (crossed out) wright. Labourer
    Married:
Harriett Morris, 22, spinster, from Beighton, father Thomas Morris, labourer

So is wells the father? or a possibility?
Its rumoured in the family Henry was raised by his aunts in Beighton, but census' show him in Anston. Its futher rumoured "mr wells" was a teacher, at the school next to where Susannah lived after she was widowed...and her daughters attended. He apparently left the village and ended up in Australia, with a woman named Lidster/Lydster.

If parish records might help, would I need Yorks or Derbyshire...or even Notts? and what sort of records could I look for?

By crossed out do you mean officially amended with registrar's initials and amendment number or that you have a copy that has been defaced by someone?

Ammended on birth cert by the registrar, and on the wedding cert by the vicar.

If he was illegitimate the Parish Records for where he was baptised might show an "alleged" father. It might (should) give his mother's marital status.

Ive never searched parish records before, how do I find where the records are for that period (1884)?
I live at least an hour away so need to ensure I go to the right place.
