He is unlikely to ahve owned the farm if he was working there as the foreman. In 1901 he is working on another farm in Nayland, Suffolk but living in Bear Street, Nayland.

Scrips Farm was part of the Felix Hall Estate at Kelvedon, details of which can be found by google. The farm was of quite a good size with approx 270 acres. The estate was sold in 1913 and the national archives hold details.

Marcus Thompson senior was my greatgrandfather and Marcus junior my grandfather. I have done quite a lot of research into our family history and would be happy to share my knowledge.

Do you konow about Frederick, not sure when he was born but died aged 3 - according to my mother, he wandered down the garden in Nayland where they lived at the time and fell into the river that ran along the bottom.
I remember going to see someone - not sure who they were - at the house in Nayland - I believe it was Ford Street but not sure. There was a wooden bridge over part of the front garden.

My mother told me that Marcus Thompson Sen. had a half brother called Mr. Downey - any info. regarding him would be interesting.
Have no idea where he lived but got the impression it could have been the London area. Should have asked more questions then.
