Luke CALLADINE
Hello Mickey,
Do you have census information for your Luke? According to the 1891/1901 census records he was actually born in South Normanton, Derbyshire not Mansfield:
1891 census of South Normanton
RG12/2651, folio 6, pages 5/6
Common
Mark CALLADINE Head M 38 Coal Miner Stafford Bilston
Gertrude M do Wife M 36 Derby South Normanton
James W do Son 12 Pit Banksman do do
Emily A do Daur 10 do do
Gertrude do Daur 8 Scholar do do
Mark do Son 5 do do do
Thomas R do Son 3 do do
Luke S do Son 9 months do do
Ann MARRIOTT Sister in law S 57 do do
It looks as if father Mark died between 1891 & 1901 census records as Gertrude M is now shown as married to a William MARRIOTT (a relation maybe??), aged 46, Coal Miner, born S Normanton and living at Westons Yard, Alfreton Road, South Normanton with her children James, Mark, Thomas, Luke and Edward CALLADINE and stepchildren Whright, Agness, Marrian and Mabel G MARRIOTT.
What information are you looking for, i.e. do you want to go forward or back or both??

Hi Micky
If you send for Lillian's birth certificate, it should confirm who her parents are.
Births Mar 1888
WHEAT Lilian Stone 6b 46
Cannot find Clement on 1891 or 1901 census,
But:
Marriages Dec 1884
Millington Jane Stone 6b 68
Wheat Clement Lewis Stone 6b 68
Can find Jane Wheat & Lillian on 1891:
Spring Road Stone Staffs
Name Age
Richard Finney 42 Head Wid Coal Miner
Jane Wheat 29 Sister-in-law M
Lilian Wheat 3 Neice
Class: RG12; Piece: 2145; Folio 99; Page 16;
Looks like Richard had been married to Clement's sister.
Marriages Mar 1869
FINNEY Richard Stoke T. 6b 239
WHEAT Ellen Stoke T 6b 239
Where is Clement in 1891?? In 1891, Jane is described as married, not widow, but this is strange: I cannot find a death entry for Clement at any time.

Just found this on A***try, but it is not on the BMD. How strange
England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906
Lillian Wheat
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 11 May 1887
Christening Date: 26 Jun 1892
Christening Place: Longton, Staffordshire, England
Age at Christening: 5
Father's Name: Clement Wheat
Mother's Name: Jane
Can only think that her birth wasn't registered until 1888.
Could this be Jane's death?
Deaths Mar 1911
WHEAT Jane 47 Chesterfield 7b 4[56]2
If it is, why can't I find Jane or Lillian in 1901?
Now to put the cat amongst the chickens, I have found this:
1891
Name Age
Henry Wheat 32
Sarah Wheat 34
Henry Wheat 3
George D Wheat 2
Lillian Wheat 7 months
Class: RG12; Piece: 2382; Folio 120; Page 37
I think you need to send for Lillian's marriage certifcate, as this will confirm whether her father is Clement or Henry.
Marriages Dec 1915
Wheat Lilian Calladine Mansfield 7b 209

Gertrude Mary MARRIOTT
Hello again Mickey,
It looks as if Gertrude Mary MARRIOTT was baptised at South Normanton on 17 March 1857, mother Hannah, according to an extracted baptism on the IGI. This makes me wonder whether the Ann shown as Gertrude's sister in the 1891 census was in fact her mother, as the IGI also has 2 extracted baptisms for a Hannah MARRIOTT at South Normanton, one in 1833 and one in 1834 either of which would fit with the birthdate of the Ann shown in the 1891 census. As Ancestry is down for maintenance at the moment, I can't get in to check census records and confirm where Gertrude is in earlier census records, but will try to do so this afternoon.

hiya sue
thank you for your help, all the info you have found out for me as thrown up more mystery's lol
ive found a sister to Lillian (think I Have lol) a Sarah Ellen wheat 1892 staffordshire she married my grandfather Philip Faulkner 1912 in salford on there marriage certified it as her father as clement Lewis wheat deceased his profession was private 80th stafforshire regiment maybe this is why he cant be found on the 1891 and 1901 census.
This is the bit I cant work out on Sarah's birth Certificate it as George and fanny wheat as her mother and farther which I think was clement's brother. Would you know a reason why they would put them down as her mum and dad?
ive found clement on the 1911 census remarried, he married a Emily in 1907 staffordshire also they have him down as a widower on there marriage Certificate
The death for Jane you found in 1911 would be 4 years to late but the age is right, or do you think he said he was a widower so he could get remarried?
thanks agian for all your help sue
cheers mickey
