Quick guide to posting

1. When you join our forum, please read our FAQs and AUP as these will help you understand forum practice and procedure.

2. The first place to visit when you first join is the Introduce Yourself board. On the left hand side of the page, you will see Post New Thread. Click on that and when the page opens, write your message. When you have finished, scroll down a bit and click on Submit New Thread. This board is only for introducing yourself, so please do not post research queries here.

3. After you have said hello, following the above procedure, post your research names on the Surname Interest board, ensuring you list the surnames in the heading. This board is only for your research names so please do not post queries here.

4. If you know which county/country your ancestors hailed from, post your queries there (following the procedure given in 2).

5. If you have no idea where your ancestors came from, post your questions (following the procedure listed in 2.) on the General Family History Queries.

6. If you have a brick wall then go to Brickwalls and (following procedure in 2.) post your query.

7. If all else fails, contact a moderator. They are listed here. Please choose a Moderator whose green light is showing (in their profile) that he/she is on-line.
