    Cool DENTON 1750+ IN GILLINGHAM,KENT

    My ancestor, Richard Denton, married Mary Grant in 1776 in St. Mary Magdalene, Gillingham, Kent. All four of their children, Mary Bennett Denton, Ann Denton, Richard Denton and Jane Denton were christened in that same church. These records are from that terrific digital record website for Kent. I found Mary Grant's christening 5 May 1754 to Lewis Grant and Mary Curtis. My Mary had an earlier sibling, also Mary who died previously plus a brother, Lewis. Her brother died at the tender age of one year old. I have found no further mention of the Denton's in Gillingham or other Kent areas and no Grant's earlier. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Mary Grant's parents were Lewis Grant and Mary Curtis. Mary Curtis Grant died 19 July 1772 in Gillingham, Kent, England.
    Children:
    William Grant, Christened: 12 feb. 1748, Chatham, Kent, England
    Mary Grant, Christened: 28 May 1751 and buried 20 Sept. 1752, both in Gillingham, Kent, England
    Mary Grant, Christened: 5 May 1754, St. Mary Magdalene, Gillingham, Kent, England
    (This Mary Grant is my ancestor who married Richard Denton)
    Thomas Grant, Christened: 13 Aug. 1756, Gillingham, Kent, England
    Lewis Grant, Christened: 17 July 1768, Buried: 15 Aug 1769, both in Gillingham,Kent, England
    I was able to obtain these records from the digital records of Cityark, Medway website.
    I have been unable to find anymore information on either Lewis Grant or Mary Curtis and would appreciate any help. Thanking you in advance.

    Hi there,

    freereg has the following burial entry;

    St Mary the Virgin, Chatham. 07 Jan 1721/22 Lewis, son of John and Hannah GRANT

    Likely to be an older sibling of the Lewis you are searching for?
